My PRACTICE

Everyone, even highly successful people, will struggle at times—with work, family, or relationships.

The real matter at hand is how you manage those difficult situations and the feelings that arise from them. I would like to accompany you on this journey.

For over 20 years, I have worked with both individuals and couples in a supportive and safe environment to uncover the cause of their suffering and move toward a whole and healthy self. My style is warm, non-judgmental, and interactive.

In my practice, I use a psychodynamic approach, which looks at the conscious and the unconscious to uncover and understand deeper feelings, particularly of anxiety and depression. Psychodynamic therapy is open-ended and collaborative in nature. Rather than providing guidelines and actions, I will work with you to get to the root of the matter, and then assess how it impacts your current life situation and where you would like to go in the future.

Just as in any relationship, determining our compatibility is key. For that reason, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for us to get to know each other.

My Mission & Vision

Providing a confidential and supportive setting in which we can work on easing suffering and moving towards a whole and healthy self.

Working alongside a trained psychologist helps people become aware of old patterns of thinking, feeling and interacting that may be contributing to their difficulties. This awareness and insight stimulates psychological growth and can bring about considerable emotional relief that results in more effective ways of dealing with problems.

For many patients. this relationship is unique, in that the therapist maintains a reliable, calm, accepting stance and listens in an unbiased way. For this reason, it is essential to find a therapist who is a good fit. Meeting and talking in person is usually the best way to determine this.

FEES & SCHEDULE

Please contact me to discuss my current fees and appointment schedule. In certain cases, depending on an individual’s income, I may be able to offer a reduced fee. In addition, I can prepare a monthly statement to submit to insurance carriers that reimburse for outpatient psychotherapy.

COURSE OF TREATMENT

Therapy sessions may be scheduled from one to several times per week. Sessions typically last 50 minutes. My recommendation about the best course of treatment will be discussed as part of the initial evaluation period during which time we talk about the reasons for seeking therapy and agree upon a plan that addresses specific concerns and goals for treatment. This period of evaluation may take place in one session or over a series of sessions.

Areas of Expertise

Anxiety & Depression

The first step towards combating sadness and worry or more acute symptoms of depression and anxiety is to identify the distressing emotions that are often the source of this unease. Therapy encourages self-knowledge and introspection that can inspire a person to better cope with these feelings and lessen their negative impact.

Areas of Expertise

Relationships

At their best, relationships offer tremendous support and emotional security. But they can also be troubling and bring unwanted conflict and stress. Talking with a therapist in a safe and supportive environment allows individuals and couples to recognize patterns in their behavior that may be creating distance and communication problems. This insight helps foster feelings of closeness and understanding.

Areas of Expertise

Work & Career

The modern workplace can present many challenges to someone’s sense of well-being. Significant stress at work can also affect one’s family life, social interactions, and physical health. One of the goals of therapy is to identify what may be contributing to these difficulties, develop a strategy for change and, in doing so, increase overall confidence and motivation.
